Booking software for dog groomers, because a cavoodle is not a Saint Bernard
A matted spaniel and a puppy’s first tidy are not the same booking, and a diary with one slot length for both is how a day turns into an evening. Bookka prices each groom by size and coat, holds the long ones with a deposit, and keeps the temperament note where whoever has the table today can read it.
- No commissionon any booking, on any plan
- From $39 a monthflat, however many staff
- 0% in persononly Stripe’s own rate applies
What dog groomers put up with
If none of these are your week, you probably do not need us.
- Every groom booked as the same slot whatever the size, coat or state the dog turns up in.
- Matting found on the table and an extra hour of work with no agreed way to charge for it.
- A two-hour groom lost to a no-show, with nothing taken up front and no chance of filling the table that afternoon.
- The biter, the one that panics at the dryer, the one who cannot be left with another dog — all of it in one groomer’s head.
- One owner with three dogs, and a booking system that can only understand one appointment.
- Six-weekly regulars quietly drifting to twelve because nobody had time to chase them.
What changes
Each one is a thing the product does today, not a thing on a roadmap.
Price by size and coat, not by hope
A full groom is one service with size or coat options behind it, each setting its own price and its own duration. Your page shows “from $75” and the booking already holds the right amount of table time before the dog walks in.
The jobs you cannot price unseen stay quotes
A severely matted rescue, a first groom on a nervous dog, a breed you have not had before — those come in as a quote request rather than a booking, so you see photos and give a real number instead of inheriting a three-hour job booked as one.
Temperament and handling notes on the dog’s file
Private notes and tags on the client record: muzzle for the dryer, hates having his feet done, vet’s name, the owner’s own warning in their words. Yours to see, never the customer’s, and still there when you are not the one grooming.
Deposits on the grooms that hurt to lose
Take a deposit per service with the balance on collection. The owner sees the amount and the cancellation window before they pay, and a cancellation inside the window refunds itself.
Pay on collection, with nothing taken off the top
Tap or cash at the counter when they pick up, on your phone or a WisePOS E terminal. Bookka takes nothing on an in-person payment, and cash costs nothing at all.
The regulars who stopped coming, named
Your numbers show who has not been back and how long it has been, and campaigns with single-use promo codes let you ask them in one go rather than one at a time.
Everything a grooming salon runs on, in one place
Instead of a booking app, a card reader, a wall calendar, a notebook of which dogs bite and a phone you answer with wet hands.
Fill the book
Bookings arrive while you are on the table, and at eleven at night.
A calendar per person. Every team member has their own services, hours and schedule, with roles deciding who sees what. Chair renters and multi-location shops are handled as first-class cases, not workarounds.
Services with options, add-ons and quotes. Length variants that change the price, add-ons that extend the appointment, and a quote request for the jobs that have to be seen before they can be priced.
Get paid
The deposit when they book, the balance on collection, and the shampoo on the way out.
Deposits and cancellation policies. Take a per-service deposit at the time of booking, with the balance due on the day. The customer sees the amount and the cancellation window before they pay, and a cancellation inside the window refunds itself.
A point of sale for walk-ins. Ring up services and retail at the counter, take cash or card, or use a WisePOS E terminal. Bookka charges no fee on an in-person payment — only Stripe’s own terminal rate applies, and cash costs nothing.
Gift cards and an online shop. Sell gift cards and products from your booking page, with pickup or post, and refunds and fulfilment tracked in the same place as your appointments.
Bring people back
A six-week dog that slips to twelve halves what that client is worth.
Reminders by SMS and email. A confirmation immediately and a reminder before the day, sent automatically. No-shows are mostly a memory problem, and this is the fix for it.
Bookka Rewards. Points for what people spend or stamps for turning up, redeemed against a catalogue you set. Rewards come off the bill at the till and in the shop.
Campaigns, social and ads. Email and SMS campaigns with single-use promo codes, a scheduler that publishes to Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, and a manager for Google and Meta ads.
Run the place
The admin that happens whether or not you have software for it.
Numbers you can act on. Revenue, bookings, your best services and the regulars who have quietly stopped coming — with exports and custom reports when you need to look properly.
An assistant that does the admin. Ask it about your own figures in plain English. Turn on changes and it will complete bookings, record cash, adjust stock and draft campaigns — confirming before each one and logging every change. It cannot cancel bookings, refund anyone or touch billing.
Xero, and the rest of your stack. Native accounting sync with accounts provisioned on connect, calendar sync so your own diary stays right, and Stripe underneath all of it.
Everything dog groomers need, in one tool
All of it on every paid plan unless the card says otherwise. Where something is limited by plan, the pricing below says so rather than this list hedging each line.
A file per client, and per dog
Notes and tags on the record for breed, coat, clip, temperament and the owner’s standing instructions — private to you and readable by whoever is grooming today.
Size and coat as priced options
One service with options behind it, each with its own price and duration, shown on your page as “from $75” so the quote and the booking length agree.
Add-ons that extend the groom
De-shed, nails, teeth, a medicated bath — added at the time of booking, each adding its own minutes rather than your lunch break.
Quote requests for the matted ones
The grooms you have to see before you can price them arrive as an enquiry with photos, which you answer with a real figure.
Deposits and a cancellation window
Set per service, shown to the owner before they pay, and applied on their own — inside the window it refunds itself, outside it the deposit is yours.
Confirmations and reminders, automatic
A confirmation as soon as they book and a reminder before the day, by SMS and email, without you stopping mid-groom to chase anyone.
A groomer per table
Each groomer has their own services, hours and calendar, with roles deciding who sees the whole day and who sees only their own.
Pay on collection, 0% from us
Cash, card or WisePOS E at the counter, with no Bookka fee at all, and the money in your own Stripe account.
Mobile grooming works the same
The dashboard is built for a phone, so a van run works the same as a shop — take the payment at the kerb and the booking closes itself.
Stamps or points for regulars
Bookka Rewards runs on points for spend or stamps for visits against a catalogue you set, and comes off the bill at the counter.
Shampoo, brushes and gift cards
Sell take-home product at the counter or online with pickup or post, and gift cards from your booking page.
No commission, ever
Your own booking link plus a marketplace profile owners find by service and suburb, and Bookka takes no cut of a booking through either.
One flat price, not one per chair
No commission on any plan, including clients who find you through the marketplace. Paid plans start with a 14-day trial.
Booking software for dog groomers, answered
Still curious? Get in touch — we reply fast.
Yes, and this is the main thing that makes a general booking app unusable for grooming. A full groom is one service with mutually exclusive options behind it — by size, by coat, by breed group, however you price — and each option carries its own price and its own duration. The owner picks when they book, so the slot is already the right length and the quote is already right.
Two ways, depending on how often it happens. If you can tell from photos, take those grooms as a quote request rather than a booking, and send back a real price before anything is locked in. If you find it on the day, ring a de-matting service up against the sale at the counter, so the extra hour is charged rather than absorbed. What Bookka does not have is an automatic matting surcharge the owner agrees to in advance — today that is a conversation at pick-up, backed by a line on the bill.
Yes, three bookings against the one client record, which is what you want: three grooms is three blocks of table time, and pretending otherwise is how a day runs over. They sit together under the owner so the history, the notes and the payment all stay in one place.
On the client’s record as notes and tags, private to your business and never shown to the owner. Muzzle for the dryer, nervous with men, cannot be crated near another dog — whatever you need the next groomer to know before they start. Bookka does not have a vaccination record upload or an expiry reminder for it; if you need proof of vaccination filed and chased automatically, that is a genuine gap.
Yes. The dashboard works on a phone, so you can run the day, take the payment and close the booking from the van. Bookka takes nothing when you take the money at the kerb — only Stripe’s own rate applies — and nothing at all in cash.
Not automatically — Bookka does not have recurring bookings yet, so a regular slot is rebooked rather than repeating on its own. What it does have is the other half of the problem: your numbers show which regulars have not been back and how long it has been, and a campaign with single-use promo codes lets you bring a list of them back at once.
Not on its own, and it is worth being straight about that. Bookka sends the booking confirmation and the reminder automatically by SMS and email, but there is no ready-for-collection message you can fire off from the booking — that text or call is still yours to make. If pick-up messaging is the thing your day actually runs on, weigh that before you switch.
No commission on bookings, on any plan, including owners who find you through the marketplace. A free plan covers five bookings a month, then Business is $39 a month for up to five people and Executive $69 for up to twenty, with extra staff at $14.95 and extra locations at $19.95. Online card payments cost 2.2% + 30c, all in and GST inclusive on Australian cards. In person Bookka takes nothing at all — you pay only Stripe’s own rate — and cash, your own EFTPOS machine and a gift card being redeemed cost nothing. Everything settles into your own Stripe account rather than ours.
